History

The company was originally established in 1882 as Charles Buckley & Sons Ltd, a ship chandler based in Liverpool. They supplied a large array of items, including sweeping brushes which were manufactured by the company.

These brushes were also sold to the brewing industry where greater variety was needed. Upon entering this industry, the company saw a market for the cask closures required in beer barrels. Making these closures involved wood turning which was a skill already in use for the manufacture of brush backs.

In 1917 Charles Buckley and Sons moved to Mirfield, West Yorkshire where two separate companies were established, Buckley's Brushes and The British Bung Manufacturing Company Ltd. Buckleys Brushes was the largest UK manufacturer of wire brushes until its closure in 2014. The British Bung Manufacturing Company continued to develop its market leading position in the cask closure industry.

Fast forward to the 1990s and the company saw an exciting opportunity to further evolve and entered into the injection moulding industry as BBP.

Over the past 30 years, BBP has successfully carved out a market leading position as a high-quality UK manufacturer of innovative and reusable drinkware and catering products.

Although the majority of the original buildings have been upgraded or replaced over the years to allow for the development and advancement of the business, we are still based on the very same site in Mirfield.
